Welcome Inside
A little insight into what the hell I am doing with this...
Why This Substack Exists
I’m not doing this Substack as a brand play.
I’m doing it because I needed a place where the mental side of competition could be talked about honestly—without compression, performance, or polish.
2025 broke me in quiet, unglamorous ways.
I left Baton Rouge after nearly two decades. I lost a business I’d poured myself into. I watched years of momentum, identity, and financial security disappear faster than I could explain it. Some things were misunderstood. Some things were misrepresented. A few things were flat-out untrue—and they stuck.
When your reputation is questioned at the same time your footing disappears, it does something to you.
I won’t dramatize it.
But I won’t pretend I was fine either.
There were stretches where I was just trying to get through the day without spiraling.
This Substack is what came after that.
A Reset—Rooted in Reality
2026 is a reset year for me—but not the kind that pretends the past didn’t happen.
It’s a year of intention.
Of habits.
Of attention.
It’s a year of giving what I’ve learned—often the hard way—back to the game that shaped me. Baseball (and softball) are still at the center of my life, but my relationship to them has changed. The focus now is development, perspective, and sustainability—mentally, emotionally, and physically.
This space is different from the public work I do elsewhere.
This is where I slow things down.
Where I think out loud.
Where I write about fear, identity, pressure, routine, failure, and the internal stories athletes carry—especially the ones they don’t know how to name yet.
Some weeks this will be reflective.
Some weeks practical.
Some weeks unresolved.
That’s intentional.
To The Mindful Athlete Community
This Substack is home to the Mindful Athlete Community.
It’s a space for players, parents, coaches, and competitors who care about the inner side of performance—not as motivation or hype, but as something that deserves structure, language, and patience.
Inside the community, we talk about:
fear and pressure without pretending they’re flaws
identity beyond results
routines as consistency, not superstition
comparison and how it quietly steals joy
what it actually takes to sustain yourself inside competitive environments
This isn’t therapy.
It isn’t coaching from a pedestal.
And it isn’t about having all the answers.
It’s about building awareness, perspective, and steadiness over time.
If this Substack is where the thinking happens, the Mindful Athlete Community is where those ideas get lived with—slowly and honestly.
What You Can Expect Here
This Substack isn’t about posting for the sake of consistency.
It’s about honesty without performance and for people who love baseball.
It’s a creative and reflective outlet.
A place to explore ideas before they become systems.
A space where curiosity is allowed to be unfinished.
A place for me to compete and share opinions about the game I love.
Some of what’s written here may eventually find its way into books, talks, or training programs. Some of it won’t. That’s part of the process.
If you’re here because you’re navigating pressure, identity, competition, or transition—and want language for what you’re experiencing—you’ll probably feel at home.
If you like recapping games, thought processes around competition and lessons learned throughout ups and downs, this may be a space for you.
If not, that’s okay too.
Either way, I’m glad you’re here.
